#26 | 1/27/2020 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: About

This is my Blog, full of Animations and Simulators to help recognize that the earth is a rotating Globe, not Flat. The website also offers Calculators, Equations and other Stuff that can be used to make predictions what we should see on a Globe or a Flat Earth. Some of the hot topics are:

I have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and as such have studied Physics and Computer Science. I was working as a Senjor Development Engineer developing graphics software and progamming languages. My website is based on a Wiki engine (similar to Wikimedia) implemented by myself. All Animations and Calculators are written in JavaScript.

Advanced Earth Curvature Calculator

⇒ Advanced Earth Curvature Calculator

#27 | 8/31/2018 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Calculator, Curvature, Horizon, Hidden, Drop, Perspective, Computer Model

This website calculates horizon and target related values and shows a 3D perspective representation for Globe and Flat Earth of the calculations from the viewpoint of an observer. On the Globe Model it includes an accurate calculation representation of refraction.

Centrifugal and Gravitational Acceleration in an Aircraft

⇒ Centrifugal and Gravitational Acceleration in an Aircraft

In a fast-flying aircraft heading east near the equator, an additional centrifugal acceleration to earths centrifugal acceleration acts away from the earth so that a part of the earth's attraction force is canceled out and therefore one is slightly lighter in the aircraft than on the ground. This is called the Eötvös effect.

In this article, this effect can be calculated with a calculation form for any location and flight direction and altitude. The calculation is verified by means of a real flight. In addition, all the formulas used are listed and explained.

Comparison of Globe and Flat-Earth Model Predictions with Reality

⇒ Comparison of Globe and Flat-Earth Model Predictions with Reality

This page shows scenes computed with a Globe Model and a Flat-Earth Model of the Earth and compares them with corresponding Real Images of the same scene and experiments to show, which Model-Predictions match Reality.

Creating an Equinox Sundial made of Paper

⇒ Creating an Equinox Sundial made of Paper

#34 | 9/25/2018 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Equinox, Sundial, Paper Model, Animation, DIY

Proving we live on a Globe using only paper, scissors and glue to build an Equinox Sundial. I show in an interactive animation how such a Sundial works everywhere on the Globe and give you the blueprints to build your own Equinox Sundial.

Creating Flight Plans for Flat Earth

⇒ Creating Flight Plans for Flat Earth

#32 | 9/10/2017 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Flight Plans, Calculator, Animation, Globe vs. Flat Earth

This App lets you create a Flight Plan based on the Flat Earth Model. The flight plan is then plotted on the Flat Earth model and on the Globe Model. The Flat Earth flight plans do not match the distances and headings an airplane flies in reality. The plot on the Globe Model shows that the Flat Earth flight plans do miss the destinations sometimes thousands of km.

Determining the Shape of the Earth with Zenith Angle Measurements

⇒ Determining the Shape of the Earth with Zenith Angle Measurements

Measuring the shape of the earth using a theodolite without assuming a globe is not trivial, because atmospheric refraction introduces measurement errors which change the appearance of the earth. I describe a method of how the shape of the earth can be determined taking refraction into account.

Distances on Globe and Flat Earth

⇒ Distances on Globe and Flat Earth

#31 | 8/10/2017 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Calculator, Distances, Great Circle, Globe vs. Flat Earth

Flat Earth and Globe Earth are two models for the earth that are very different in geometry. In order to decide which model matches reality, we can calculate the shortest distance between two points for both models and check which distance corresponds to reality.

I derive the formulas to compute the distance between two points for both models. The computations can be carried out using a calculation form. An example is then used to decide which model corresponds to reality.

Earth Gravity Calculator

⇒ Earth Gravity Calculator

#36 | 9/1/2018 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Calculator, Equations, Gravity, Centrifugal, Reference Ellipsoid, WGS84

This calculator can be used to compute the effective gravitational acceleration, the pure gravitational acceleration and the centrifugal acceleration for any point on the Reference Ellipsoid of the earth for both surface and at altitude according to the model WGS84.

Field Artillery Manual accounts for Earth's Rotation

⇒ Field Artillery Manual accounts for Earth's Rotation

#96 | Author: Walter Bislin | Type: Website | Keywords: Artillery, Earth's Rotation, Coriolis

Manual that shows that in Field Artillery the rotation of the Earth is taken into account. They have to correct for the vertical (range) and horizontal (azimuth deviation) components of the Coriolis acceleration.
