International aviation charts for pilots show distances accurately

A quick look at the Jeppesen Charts which are used by international airline pilots to fly all over the Earth. Australia is not larger than the USA. It is about 4000 kilometers by road from Sydney to Perth. Note the lines of Longitude converging towards the South Pole. This is the only way to depict distances accurately on a flat map.

Any map showing Longitude diverging South of the Equator is not an accurate representation of the Earth.

WGS84 Earth model, Accuracy and Role in Aviation

The World Geodetic System WGS84 is the Globe Model implemented in GPS and is used not only by Google Earth and other map applications, but is also the model used for flight planing and aircraft navigation. It has cm accuracy worldwide. Using Wide Area Augmentation System WAAS it is used to fly thousands of km, even without visibility to the ground, to find the destination runway to m accurcy everywhere on earth.
