#171 | 6/21/2020 | Author: Chris Cassidy, NASA | Type: Youtube | Keywords: Solar Eclipse, Annular Eclipse, Earth from Space, ISS, 4k

On June 21, 2020, NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy captures a Solar Annular Eclipse in 4K from the International Space Station as it passes approximately 260 miles over China. The video’s speed has not been altered.

Solar Dynamics Observatory

The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is a NASA mission which has been observing the Sun since 2010. Launched on February 11, 2010, the observatory is part of the Living With a Star (LWS) program.

The goal of the LWS program is to develop the scientific understanding necessary to effectively address those aspects of the connected Sun–Earth system directly affecting life and society. The goal of the SDO is to understand the influence of the Sun on the Earth and near-Earth space by studying the solar atmosphere on small scales of space and time and in many wavelengths simultaneously. SDO has been investigating how the Sun's magnetic field is generated and structured, how this stored magnetic energy is converted and released into the heliosphere and geospace in the form of solar wind, energetic particles, and variations in the solar irradiance.

Sunset and Full Moon Rise both below eye level at 45000 ft

Sun and Moon appear below the Eye Alignment Balls, showing they both are below true level (eye level). The sun illuminates the cockpit from below.

Sunsets below Eye Level

These are some of my personal observations, using different methods to reference horizontal (level) line-of-sight.

The oft-cited claim in support of a flat earth that the horizon always appears at "eye level" is categorically shown not to be true. The sun appearing below "eye level" demonstrates the maximum angular elevation the horizon can possibly be for a given observation.

No formulation or application of the law of perspective can genuinely explain this for a sun that is perpetually higher than then surface of the earth.

The Sun illuminating the underside of Clouds - seen from above

At Sunset the Sun has already dropped below the "cloud horizon" produced by a layer of high cloud and was illuminating these clouds from underneath while the top was in darkness. We can also recognize the shadow of the earth projecting into the sky.

Would Sunrises Look the Same on a Flat Earth and a Globe?

#212 | 7/19/2021 | Author: FE Dogma | Type: Youtube | Keywords: Sunrise, Sunset, Time Lapse, Globe vs. Flat Earth

I took a few sunrise time-lapse videos between 11 March and 21 June from my condo. Are these time-lapse videos evidence of a flat earth or evidence of a globe? A couple include interesting cloud movements included. 7:44 Flat earth explanation of sunrise. 9:59 Globe explanation.

Total Solar Eclipse 360 VR 4K Video seen from Balloon at 32 km Altitude

#136 | 4/19/2019 | Author: BBC Earth | Type: Youtube | Keywords: Solar Eclipse, Moon, Shadow, Umbra, Penumbra, 360 VR, 4K, High Altitude Balloon

Get closer than ever to a total solar eclipse and observe it from all possible angles in this stunning virtual reality video. The eclipse and the shadow of the moon traveling over the surface of the earth was filmed from a high altitude ballon while ascending to an altitude of 50 km. We can clearly see the curvature of the horizon.

24 Hour Sun at the South Pole, 5 Day Time Lapse

⇒ vimeo.com

Only at the Pole - the sun circles around the horizon in 24h here is a time-lapse of nearly 5 days from March 08-13, 2017. So only a few days until sunset so in the course of 360° the sun moves a bit closer to the horizon. ~ Robert Schwarz

Some flat earther claim they have debunked a video from Anthony Powell, which was edited to get a continous video. The original video run for more than 36 hour:

The Day The Sun Stood Still on Flight QF63 SYD-JNB

#62 | 2/20/2019 | Author: WheresWa11y, GreaterSapiens | Type: Youtube | Keywords: Sun, Circumflight, Antarctica, Southern Hemisphere, Flight, GPS

GreaterSapiens made a flight around the Globe. With his GPS device he recorded the whole flight. This video is about the flight from Sydney to Johannesburg. Because the Great circle route passes very near Antarctica and because the circumference of the earth along a latitude line there is so short, the airplane was fast enough to follow the sun for some hours.

Finding the Sub-Solar Position from Sun Azimuth Angles

#129 | 3/20/2020 | Author: Bobby Shafto | Type: Youtube | Keywords: Sun, Sub-Solar Point, Azimuth, Day/Night Terminator

On a globe model, the sun is a large, distant light source, and the position on the earth at which the sun is at the zenith -- called the sub-solar position -- can be "fixed" by the sun's observed azimuth. This is demonstrated in this video, using both a physical and a digital model of the globe earth. The method seen in this video can be performed for any date and any time to localize the sub-solar position and determine the day/night terminator.
